National Glaucoma Awareness Week

National Glaucoma Awareness Week is 6th – 12th June 2016

The focus of this week is to encourage close relatives of someone  with glaucoma to have regular eye examinations. The International Glaucoma Association  have discovered that relatives are not aware of the increased risk of glaucoma. If the relatives are over 40 years of age then they will get a free eye examination under the NHS if their father, mother or children have glaucoma. Everyone over 60 years will receive a free NHS eye examination

Thank you from York Blind and Partially Sighted Society

Dear Barbara

Thank you so much for your clear presentation on Monday at the Macular Degeneration Support Group.  It was very useful having an overview of various conditions, as well as a reminder that we should all get our eyes tested. There was obviously a lot of interest in what you said, going by the number of questions and the queue of people who spoke to you afterwards.

This was a well-attended meeting:  I calculate that there were 40 of us in the room altogether, including escorts, helpers and visitors.

We are really grateful to you for making the trip to York and we wish you well for the future.

On behalf of the MD Support Group
