A young gentleman (mid twenties) came for a normal sight test. His only complaint was that his distance vision was blurred as he was short sighted. He was not aware of any other problems.
Barbara checked his eyes to find raised intra ocular pressures (I.O.P.s) and sent him urgently to a local ophthalmologist.
Glaucoma was diagnosed and he was treated with medication, this involved putting an eye drop in both eyes at bedtime and being reviewed regularly to ensure the I.O.P.s are remaining stable. This condition is known as glaucoma and was discovered before any damage was done.
