Essential and Urgent Eye Appointments

  • We have been asked to delay all routine eye appointments due to the Coronavirus pandemic
  • We are still planning to see essential and urgent eye appointments
  • We are ‘telephone screening’ all patients for symptoms of COVID-19, ( new and continuous cough, or a high temperature.) prior to their appointments unfortunately we cannot see anyone if they are experiencing any of the symptoms.
  • Each patient is asked, when we arrive, if they’ve experienced any of the COVID-19 symptoms before we proceed with the appointment
  • We are equipped with a thermometer to enable us to test our temperature before we start work.
  • We will be carrying out additional cleaning, during the day between patients on-top of the regular deep cleans that we carry out as standard.
  • Alcohol hand gel is available at every visit.
  • We are taking extra measurements at the eye test so that we can adjust the spectacles and then post the spectacles back to you to avoid another visit

Fake contact lenses can seriously damage your eye sight

Take care to buy your contact lenses from a reputable Optometrist as there are counterfeit contact lenses for sale on line which can cause serious sight threatening eye infections, the contact lenses that are supplied are not sterile.

World Glaucoma Week March 10-16th 2019

World Glaucoma Week is a joint venture between the World Glaucoma Association and the World Glaucoma Patient Association and it has lasted 10 years.

Look out for local screening events, lectures, more coverage on radio and TV shows and more newspaper articles on glaucoma this week

If you have a family history of glaucoma please make it a priority to have an eye examination involving assessment of the optic nerve inside the eye, measurement of the intraocular pressure and a visual field assessment for both eyes to rule out any problems that might be due to glaucoma
