Eye Drop, Lanosterol, Reverses The Opacification In Some Forms Of Cataracts

Cataracts are the most common cause of blindness worldwide, affecting tens of millions of people, and currently the only treatment is surgical removal. In this study the researchers looked at two families with congenital cataracts. The researchers gave the families eye drops containing lanosterol. The treatment was found to significantly decrease the opacification. The drops were also found to work in animal studies. This research points to a different treatment for cataract prevention
