An investigation by the Sunday Mirror, published on December 28th 2014, in which 12 pairs of ready readers from a number of High Street stores were tested for lens strength, lens alignment and overall effectiveness.
The findings were that 11 out of 12 pairs were found to have defects in them which could cause eye strain, blurred vision and headaches.
This is backed up by research carried out by the College of Optometrists in 2012 where half of over 300 ready readers did not meet British and European standards.
This highlights the importance of not relying on them and the need for a full eye examination by a qualified optometrist to ensure your spectacles are comfortable to wear.
